Why is it that some Leaders are more successful than others? What is it that sets some Leaders apart from others? Are the differences between a GREAT Leader and a MEDIOCRE Leader enormous?

The answer is simple: 

There are two things that stand out in GREAT Leaders.

#1 – Great Leaders have the ability to challenge the norm. Great Leaders dare to question, challenge and suggest different approaches in order to reach the required results. Too many Leaders are too concerned with what others will think of them and therefore they fail to challenge and question their peers. There are thousands of ways to get from A to B – only the quickest and smartest will get there in the shortest amount of time and with the least amount of efforts. Challenge the norm why don’t you?

Challenging the norm is not enough though… You also need to dare to make decisions. Are you waiting for you Boss to give you directions? Why? What are you waiting for ? Leaders need input and Leaders need to bounce ideas, no doubt. But not waiting for others to make decisions? Hell no! Take charge, believe in yourself and your own judgement and trust your gut! If you cannot do this then leave the Leadership part to others who have guts and who dare to challenge the norm! GET IT? Get dirty, stick out your neck and take risks… Or be run over, be sidestepped!

#2 – Great Leaders have an abundance of Common Sense. This is not to be taken lightly! Common sense is surprisingly rare… Once you work in large organizations and are dependant on others, loosing the common sense aspect is apparently… common… Think, evaluate and decide! Always… You are smart enough, you are knowledgeable enough… So why are you waiting for others?

I would like all Leaders who aim to be GREAT to contemplate above. Challenge yourself and the norm in order to develop and deliver!
