There are only 3 things you need to know about leadership – other than perhaps the fact that it is damn hard…

1. Excuses are generally bad… There are two types of people (according to Peter Drucker): those who produce results and those who make excuses why they don’t produce results… Don’t buy into the excuses… See past the excuses and work with people who are dedicated and determined. Leave the slackers and the ‘would have’ & ‘could have’ people behind – you don’t have time to waste! 
2. Stretch targets – a way to move people forward… A way to stimulate a higher performance requirement. You must generate value and if you do we will pay you generously… Crucial! Get people excited about performing above mediocrity! Set clear examples in your organisation that high-performers are paid handsomely! 
3. Be yourself – The best leader you can ever be is the person you are… Not who you think someone should be or act in your position. You are in your position and that’s who people want to look up to, interact with and respect. Not some puppet or robot who acts in the same way always and with everyone because that’s how someone said I should act as a Manager or Leader. Be yourself – Be human! Practice Leadership through Authenticity, Empathy and Adaptability and you will prevail and over-achieve with your entire team!
