I mentioned in my post of yesterday (and in several other posts) that leading yourself is a must before you can lead others. Here some help to that effect.
Leading oneself is not only about being administratively capable. No, in fact it is about a whole lot more. You need to figure out below:
- What is your life’s motto?
- What are your beliefs?
- What are your values?
- What’s your vision?
- What leaps might you do to become better?
- What are your opposite polarities?
- What are your strengths? (never focus on weaknesses, I’ve mentioned this too, many times… but I believe with everything in me that if you work on your strengths your weaknesses will diminish)
- What is your core? What do you want to achieve and have the ability to excel in?
- Who inspires you? And why?
- What’s the essence of your Leadership?
- What do enjoy?
Etc, etc… Remember, you are not trying to answer existential questions or solve the meaning of life? Above questions are pertaining to you and your Leadership. Answering them and writing them down will allow for you to capture yourself as a Leader and thus capture your true potential.
I attempted this exercise some time ago. The result from this together with personal pictures of meaning and inspiration to me, you can see below. This truly helped me in understanding myself and my Leadership strengths. Why I act the way I do in my Leadership as well as what I aspire for. If you are serious about your Leadership and the importance of this in managing a business, I would highly recommend you do the same. Give it some thought… However, be speedy! Most of the answers are there at the back of your head… Dig ’em out and excel!
