Are you a Leader? Do you have what it takes?


What is leadership to you? I will below describe what it means to me. I have decidedly a strong opinion about Leadership and I believe with everything in me that through Leadership companies are made or broken. This is clearly not a revolutionary opinion. However, ask yourself; have you ever had a bad boss? I am sure that the answer is yes… So, if we all answer yes to this question what does that mean? Well… It means that many people who are leaders should probably not be… Why? Because a leader must be a person that the team deserves. Not a person who thinks he/she is deserving. Big difference!

A leader must:

  • Face the brutal facts of every situation at all times
  • Be humble to all circumstances
  • Be vibrant and dynamic
  • Believe… in everything… Self, Company, Products, Customers
  • Lead by Energy
  • Lead by Example
  • Create a culture (A strong Culture is key)
  • Be focused and organized
  • Have a high level of empathy
  • Have common sense
  • Be creative
  • Genuinely like people…. And I mean, genuinely
  • Have an interest in others
  • Listen
  • Be tough… Always as tough as the situation demands… Not more or less!
  • Have a slight inferiority complex…. be the toughest critics of him/herself
  • Have a severe amount of guts
If you look at yourself, how many of above do you possess? If it is only two things – you can still be an excellent leader if those two things are:
  1. Empathy
  2. Common Sense
Does not seem too difficult does it? Everything else on the above list can be worked upon and be improved. However, if you lack empathy and common sense you will never be a good leader! This is as true as the sun rising in the east…
My aim is to be a world class leader and therefore I realize I am nothing without the people I surround myself with!
Good Luck in working on your Leadership skills… Trust me when I say; it is an ongoing struggle to become a Leader that your Team deserves, but it is worth it!

    Leadership is all about people. As a leader, first and foremost job is to know its people – team. there would be always mix team of good and bad team members – winner and looser, Performeer and non-performer.The next job of the leader is to set priority ( Integrity should be first priority over success or profit of self and organization) train the performer and creat learning and performing environment as leader is mentor too. Leader must understand that his team is not because of him but he is just because of the team. This makes leader humble and teamfriendly ( democratic not autocratic ).
