I am again sitting well above the clouds on my way (listening to Ol´Blue Eyes and ‘Come fly with me’… appropriately so)… I find that I am on my way a lot… Whether I am going some place or leaving another, is the real question. Right now, looking at the flight map, I am somewhere between Muscat and Karachi, heading south east towards Yangon and then onwards to Bangkok. Been to these cities. And they impress me in various ways. I have never been to a place so far that has neither impressed me nor taught me something. You see, this is the privilege of traveling and the unavoidable consequence of being open minded.

Let me tell you about Karachi: It could be one of the Great cities of the world, why? It has all the prerequisites. Proximity to water, warmth (climate and people alike), parks and history. My first visit to Karachi, I was surprised positively so, how wonderful this place could be. In the evening, after a day on the town, I had dinner with the team in Karachi at a Japanese sky bar where alcoholic beverages were served (if you vowed that you were not a Pakistani nor a Muslim, in writing). I am neither, so I had a beer. This place could be cooler and livelier than Mumbai (Mumbai is a pretty happening place if you know where to go) if were it not for Politics… Such a bummer…. As soon as there is political stability & security in Pakistan I am buying property in Karachi… (but keep this to yourself or real-estate prices will go up:))

Let me tell you about Yangon (Rangoon), Burma… What a place… Bustling, commercial and chaotic with some of the worlds ‘must sees’. The enormous reclining Buddha stretching over 70 meters and the Shwedagon Paya – the oldest Pagoda in the world – some 2,600 years old… Entirely beautiful! Placed on a hill with gold and Buddha relics everywhere. You can feel the serenity and calm in the air. Burma (Myanmar) also has some of the warmest and friendliest people I have come across… This country will be a place to look out for… It will boom….financially, touristically and geopolitically!

Anyway, I am not writing a review for Trip Advisor…

My thoughts this time is in relations of being headed somewhere. Where are you headed? Where is your life taking you? Is your life ruling you or are you ruling your life? Are you happy with the direction and path your life is headed at the moment? Personally, I am now facing the fact that I am heading towards the middle ages… Next year I am turning 40… I have not decided yet how to feel about this. However, I am pretty sure I will feel older than I once was but younger than I´ll be. I´ll be ok. Mostly because I have been fortunate to have had a varied amount of experiences. I feel privileged and appreciative of what I have achieved and done. Thank you! I am sure that there are others who have done and experienced more than what I have… So what? The trick is to be content yet eager… Are you? If not, up and change and radically do something about it…. One life… One decision!
